Huis Oranje is situated in a setting with Paarl Rock behind it with beautiful views of Du Toits Kloof Mountains. Enjoy these breathtaking mountain views, from the Rose and Palm Tree Terrace, while enjoying breakfast or sipping sundowners. The views are incredibly pretty and each sunset offers a spectacular array of colour against the mountains.
The historic value of Oranje Street dated back to 1712 and was named Oranje in 1717, by Paul Roux. The name Oranje refers to the town from where Paul Roux originally immigrated. This town, Oranje, was the capital of the princedom of Oranje, later incorporated by France. The first deed of sale of this property dated back to 1795.
When newly renovating, this 214-year old building structure, we tried to preserve the charm and style of this old classic. We kept the wooden ceiling beams and original wood finishing in the main house, for a glimpse into the past. The effect is pure comfort and calmness for relaxation at its best.

Simply a 40-minute drive outside Cape Town, at the foot of the second-largest granite outcrop in the world, you’ll find an unexpected jewel: the scenic town of Paarl. Paarl is a town to visit for all reasons and all seasons!
The balmy summers call for outside entertaining: a light but long lunch in the shade, glasses filled with chilled wine. During the rainy Cape winters everyone moves indoors and huddles around the fireplace with a glass of world-class red wine, produced right here in the Paarl Valley.
The best way to experience the subtle pleasures of the Paarl Valley is to stay over for a night or two, but you’ll be tempted to stay longer - maybe even decide to never leave.
A trip down the 12-km long Main Road, the longest in the country, is a trip down memory lane. The buildings lining Main Road present a mosaic of the most superb examples of Cape Dutch, Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco architecture.
The arboreal giants of Paarl – mainly oaks donated by Simon van der Stel, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope colony – provide shade on hot summer days. On the bank of the Berg River is an arboretum that boasts some 4 000 trees representing about 700 indigenous and exotic species.
The scenic beauty of the Paarl Valley compels visitors to get in the car and drive along the many scenic routes in the valley and along the surrounding mountains. The richness in fauna and flora even attracted the attention of Charles Darwin, father of the theory of evolution, when he visited Paarl in 1836.
Explore the Paarl Valley from a different angle, either on horseback along the foothills of the mountains or through vineyards, or from a hot-air balloon in the early morning or on any of the wide variety of hiking trails and bike routes to choose from.
Paarl offers a wide variety of wedding venues, from small and intimate to the large and extravagant. Paarl boasts the oldest church still in use in South Africa and several venues with their own chapels and even an open air venue where you can get hitched in front of a waterfall! Apart from the venues you will also find florists, event coordinators, designers and caterers all of very high standards. Come experience your wedding with us in Paarl and take back unforgettable memories.
The Taal monument, on Paarl rock, is one of the most famous Afrikaans monuments erected in South Africa and dedicated to the Afrikaans language. It was designed by the architect Jan van Wijk and inaugurated in 1975. The monument is shaped in several tall obelisks style columns erected on the granite of Paarl Rock. The monument, atop Paarl rock, is visible from a great distance as one approaches Paarl. Visit the website.

Our winemakers produce a wide range of wines and styles so whether you are looking for fresh and fruity or dark and brooding we'll be sure to have a wine perfectly suited to your palate.
While Shiraz has been chosen as our signature cultivar a wide range of other styles also perform extremely well. This strength in diversity was again proven recently when major awards were bestowed on such relatively unknown varietals as Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Many of the Paarl Vintners also offer added attractions so why not enjoy lunch under old oak trees, sample a range of cheeses and olives, watch glass blowers in action or just sit back and let the natural beauty of our surroundings wash over you.
